Dragging Tasks on the Gantt Chart

Dragging Tasks on the Gantt Chart updates the tentative start date for the dragged Task.  As was previously stated (See Task Block Types) some Tasks are locked, or frozen, on the Gantt Chart and their schedule dates cannot be changed.  When ending a drag action on a Task, there are two important things to notice.

First, the schedule date of a Task will adjust (forward in time) if the User attempts to schedule it on a forbidden weekend day.  Each Job is associated with an Install Company; Install Companies are created and maintained in SedonaSetup.  Within an Install Company setup record, the User can check boxes which indicate whether Saturdays and Sundays are allowed days.

Likewise, the width of the Task block will adjust to span forbidden weekend days.  A Task’s length will not change, but its finish date will.

Finally, Tasks which have predecessors will automatically be moved forward with their predecessors, and will be restricted from moving to a schedule time before their predecessors.
